Nicholas Alvarado joins seven women on the team

The cross country team placed eight runners on the Academic All-GNAC team. Nicholas Alvarado was the lone male and joined females, Katie Hansen Jaime Clark, Jennifer Innes, Rhiannon Cadelinia, Rachel Yorkston, Greta Stickney, and Natalie Martinez.

Alvarado was ’s number two runner all season and recently placed 44th at the NCAA West Region Championships. Nicholas was honored for achieving a 3.32 GPA as an Arts and Sciences Pre-Major. Alvarado was the lone runner honored for Seattle University Men’s Cross Country team that includes seven freshmen that are not eligible for Academic All-GNAC honors.

Hansen, a junior, led this season as their top runner in all six races she ran. She also achieved admirably in the classroom where she carries a 3.88 GPA in biology. It is Hansen’s second consecutive year on the Academic All-GNAC team.

Other repeat winners on the Academic All-GNAC team were Cadelinia who has earned a 3.70 GPA while majoring in liberal studies and who carries a 3.23 GPA in biology.

The other juniors on the team were Clark who carries a 3.81 GPA in social work and Innes who has achieved a 3.77 GPA in theology and religious studies.

The final two members of the team were sophomores Yorkston, who carries a 3.51 GPA while majoring in nursing, and Stickney who has achieved a 3.43 GPA while majoring in journalism.

Cross Country has now completed their season after last weekend when the women finished sixth in the NCAA West Region meet, while the men finished 14th.
