Cross Country Fares Well At NCAA West Regionals
Seattle women place sixth, men 14th
The cross country teams completed their season with strong runs at the NCAA D-II West Region meet on Saturday morning. The women placed sixth out of 23 teams, while the men took 14th out of 19 teams.
Katie Hansen (, ) once again led by placing 23rd in 21:42. Right behind Hansen was Rachel Yorkston () who finished off her strong season by finishing 29th in 21:52.
Greta Stickney (, ) finished 61st for in a time of 22:44 to finish as third runner. The other scoring runners were Julia Miller (, ) who finished 65th in 22:48 and Rachael Johnson () who returned from injury to place 73rd in 22:56.
’s sixth runner was Kerianne Quiocho () who finished 93rd in 23:21.
Seattle Pacific took the team title with 45 points. They were led by individual champion, Jessica Pixler who finished in a time of 19:53. Also qualifying for nationals were Cal State Los Angles who finished second, who finished third, and UC San Diego who finished fourth.
On the men’s side, was led by Nathan Heitzinger () who finished 42nd with a time of 32:29 in his final collegiate cross country meet. Just a second behind Heitzinger was Nicholas Alvarado () who finished 44th 32:30.
Rounding out the scoring for Seattle were Hans Heitzinger (Phoenix, Ariz.) who finished 61st with a time of 33:00, Michael Van Nuland (Newcastle, Wash.) who finished 94th with a time of 34:24, and Max Cole (Fort Collins, Colo.) who finished 97th with a time of 34:33.
Completing the team for Seattle were Graham Miller (Spokane, Wash.) who finished 102nd with a time of 35:01 and Adam Kollgaard (Kent, Wash.) who finished 105th in 35:21.
won the men’s competition with 39 points. It was their sixth straight Men’s West Regional cross country title. John Riak of ’s won the individual competition in a time of 30:32. Joining champion at nationals will be UC San Diego and .
