After winning the first game, the Seattle University volleyball team saw its hitting percentage decrease as that of Montana State Billings increased, as the Yellowjackets came back to defeat the Redhawks, 3-1 (24-30, 30-17, 30-17, 30-22), Saturday night in GNAC action.
Freshman Janet Beckerman (Bellevue, Wash.) was the only Seattle player to hit the ball well, earning nine kills with only one attack error for a .400 hitting percentage. Nikole Thompson () also finished with nine kills, plus she earned two solo blocks during the match. The Redhawks did finish with ten team blocks, led by Libby Graff () with five blocks and Beckerman with four total blocks.
After hitting .143 in the first game, hit at a negative percentage in the other three games, finishing with a -.019 hitting percentage. After hitting only .100 in the first game, Montana State Billings hit at least .211 in the other three games, finishing with a hitting percentage of .215. The Redhawks could not stop the offense of the Yellowjackets, as earned only 42 digs, with no one in double figures in digs for .
Alicia Cazemier led Montana State Billings (17-9, 9-7 GNAC) with 17 kills, plus she earned four blocks. Devon Crotteau earned 15 kills and a match-high 20 digs, while Jennifer Boe contributed ten kills and four blocks. Stefania Aladjova ran a successful offense, notching 46 assists to go along with 11 digs, and Nicole Kruse also helped the Yellowjackets defensively with 17 digs.
Seattle University (10-14, 7-9 GNAC) will play its final two matches of the 2007 season at home, hosting Northwest Nazarene next Thursday, Nov. 8, before finishing the year with a matchup against Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 10. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. at the .
