SEATTLE, Wash. - The schedules for the Seattle University men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball teams for the 2007 season are now available online.
The men's and women's soccer teams as well as the volleyball team will all start their seasons in Rohnert Park, Calif., at tournaments hosted by Sonoma State during the weekend of August 23-26. In fact, Humboldt State will serve as the opponent for all three SU teams in their season openers, with the women's soccer team opening the 2007-08 competitive year against the Lumberjacks on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 1:30 p.m.
The volleyball team earns the honor of having the first regular season home event, as Northwest University comes to the Connolly Center on Wednesday, Aug. 29, for a 7 p.m. match. The women's soccer team plays the first of ten home matches the next day, hosting Cal State Stanislaus on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. at Championship Field.
The Seattle University cross country teams begin their season by hosting the Emerald City Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Lower Woodland Park. The men's soccer squad plays its home opener the next day, as Notre Dame de Namur comes to Championship Field on Sunday, Sept. 9, for a 2:30 p.m. match.
There is a new face in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, as Montana State-Billings joins the league to add two conference matches to the volleyball and soccer schedules. In addition, Saint Martin's has added men's and women's soccer, giving the SU soccer squads two more league matches each.
Both the men's and women's soccer teams will look to repeat as GNAC champions and return to the NCAA Tournament for the third time over the past four years. Meanwhile, the volleyball team is pushing towards its first ever league title and a berth in the NCAA Pacific Regional for the first time since 2003. The cross country teams will use its regular season meets to prepare for the GNAC Championships on Oct. 20 and the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 3.
The schedules for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track and field, and women's softball are still being finalized, but will be available later in the summer.
