SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle University head men's soccer coach Brad Agoos has announced that Anthony Sardon, a part-time assistant coach last season, has been promoted to the full-time assistant coach position, replacing Jason Farrell, who is leaving the program to pursue other professional opportunities.

Sardon joined the coaching staff in 2006 after finishing his playing career at Seattle University, where he was part of the 2004 NCAA Division II National Championship squad. Sardon earned one goal and three assists during his playing days and, as an assistant coach, helped guide the 2006 team to a share of the GNAC title and the Elite Eight of the 2006 NCAA Division II Tournament.

"I feel like we are extremely fortunate to have Anthony Sardon coming in as our full time assistant coach," Agoos said. "Anthony loves Seattle U. and the program and is going to bring a lot of energy and passion to our team. He has some big shoes to fill coming in after Jason, but I can't think of anyone who cares about the program more than Anthony or is more dedicated to taking it to the next level."

Farrell joined Agoos' staff after playing seven years and coaching one year with the Seattle Sounders professional soccer club. Farrell was drafted in the second round of the 1997 MLS supplemental draft by Columbus and played for the Crew from 1997 to 2000. A two-time Athlete of the Year at Seattle Pacific in the early 1990s, Farrell was named to the Seattle Times All-Century Team in 1999.

"We want to thank Jason Farrell for all he has done during this time of transition. He has been an outstanding part of our program and we wish him all the best in the future," said Agoos.

The Seattle University men's soccer team is coming off its fifth conference title in six seasons and its second NCAA Division II West Region championship in three years. The team is presently in its spring season and will travel to face the University of Portland Wednesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m., followed by contests against the University of Washington and Oregon State Saturday, April 14, at the Husky Soccer Field and UW East Field.
