McAlister Named Division II Player of the Year

SEATTLE - Seattle University junior Bobby McAlister (Federal Way, Wash./University of Washington) was named the 2004 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to cap a dream season for the Redhawks.

McAlister, who is Seattle's first NCAA Division II Player of the Year in any sport, set school and Great Northwest Athletic Conference single-season records for goals (22), points (49) and game-winning goals (11), and led the Redhawks to a 22-0-1 record and the school's first NCAA Division II national title.

Seattle University also won an NAIA national title in 1997.

McAlister scored both game-winning goals in the Redhawks' two matches at the NCAA Division II Final Four which earned him Offensive Player of the Tournament honors. He also assisted Seattle's game-winning goal in the NCAA quarterfinals against Incarnate Word with three seconds remaining in regulation.

In just two seasons with the Redhawks, McAlister currently ranks No. 4 all-time in Seattle University in goals scored with 29 and No. 5 all-time in points with 67.
