After helping the Seattle University men’s basketball team earn back-to-back victories over a three-day span, junior center Jack Crook (Manchester, England) has been named the Featured Student-Athlete of the Week on GoSeattleU.com.
In Saturday’s 70-58 victory over CSU Northridge, Crook pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with six points and four assists in 34 minutes of action. Two nights later at the ShoWare College Classic in Kent, he notched his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds in just 22 minutes on the floor as the Redhawks cruised to a 72-33 victory over Pacific Lutheran.
For the season, Crook is averaging 8.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He is currently third in the WAC in rebounding and tied for eighth in assists. He is coming off a 2013-14 season in which he averaged 5.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, leading the Redhawks with 179 total rebounds.
In the classroom, Crook currently carries a 3.117 grade point average as a strategic communications major. He has worked hard to raise his GPA above 3.0, and he was the trailblazer for British student-athletes to join the Redhawk men’s basketball program, which now includes four players from England.
The Seattle University men’s basketball team brings a 3-3 record into Thursday’s road game at UC Santa Barbara starting at 7:30 p.m. The Redhawks return to KeyArena Saturday, Dec. 6, to face the Eastern Washington Eagles beginning at 7 p.m., with Apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas and Massive Monkees performing at halftime.
The Seattle University athletics department names a Featured Student-Athlete each Tuesday based on performances both in the classroom and in competition.
