Three New School Records Set at Fresno State Invitational

Clovis, Calif - Seattle U track and field returned to action on Saturday as it took part in the Fresno State Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. On the day, The Redhawks set three new school records and recorded an additional 17 marks on their all time top-10 outdoor list.

Clovis, Calif - Seattle U track and field returned to action on Saturday as it took part in the Fresno State Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. On the day, The Redhawks set three new school records and recorded an additional 17 marks on their all time top-10 outdoor list.

The highlight of the day came from freshman Morgan Young as she set a new school record in the triple jump as well as placing in the high jump and long jump. Young is the second Redhawk to break the triple jump record this year as she improves her previous fifth place all time mark of 11.22m (36' 9.75") to the new record of 12.16m (39' 10.75"). The two additional school records were set by junior Tricht Jocelyn and sophomore Isaiah Payne in the 100m and 200m respectively. Jocelyn set the new 100m record at 12.09, beating the previous record by .01, while also finishing with the season's fastest time in any condition of 25.18w (2.8 m/s) in the 200m. Payne ties the school record 200m time at 21.51, improving his previous PR by .14, as well as improving his PR time in the 100m to 10.68.

Of the 17 additional marks, three were set in the 100m as freshman Noah Payne ranks fifth, freshman Brant Yamamoto ranks 10th and senior Michelle Newblom improves her previous PR and 10th ranked time to seventh. Freshman Maya McCabe improved upon her second ranked all time 800m time by .21, while sophomore Ansel Pendley-Griffin jumped from ninth to fourth all time in the 1500m with a time of 3:51.89 and sophomore Chloe Deleissegues moves onto the top-10 100m hurdles list at ninth all time. Freshman Emily Harris and sophomores Rowan Cuadrado and Marie-Therese Chahrouri made their personal debuts in the steeplechase, ranking fifth, sixth and eighth all time with Chahrouri being slowed by a fall that greatly impacted her time.

In the field events, freshman Xavier Kelley improved his mark in the high jump from eighth to third all time as well as improving his sixth ranked PR mark in the long jump. Sophomore Lucas Milne made his personal debut in the shot put and discus throw, ranking fourth and fifth all time respectively, while also improving his eighth ranked PR mark in the javelin throw.

As a team, Seattle U set an additional seven PRs and three season bests.

Michaela Moore - season best in the 100m.

"We are all very pleased with the way this meet turned out," said Head Coach Kelly Sullivan. "It was great for our team to compete in such a high quality meet and post some of the performances we did. We are very excited to be able to do this all again next week in Corvallis."

Seattle U's next event will have it travel to Corvallis, Ore., to compete in the two day OSU High Performance Meet on Apr. 30-May 1.
