BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – Seattle U men’s tennis wraps up their season this weekend at the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Championships, held this year in Brownsville, Texas, at the Brownsville Tennis Center from April 26-28.
On Friday, #6 Seattle U (4-12, 0-5 WAC) will face off against #3 Kansas City (9-11, 3-2 WAC) at 11:00 a.m. PT. The winner of that match will challenge #2 New Mexico State (14-9, 4-1 WAC) at 11:00 a.m. the next day. On the other side of the bracket, #4 Chicago State (6-18, 2-3 WAC) and #5 UT Rio Grande Valley (4-19, 1-4 WAC) compete at 11:00 a.m. PT for the privilege of facing #1 Grand Canyon (17-6, 5-0 WAC) at the same time on Saturday.
"This is what each team starts preparing for from the first day of practice onwards," said Head Coach Joey Barnes. "It is now our preparation and heart that must guide us, and I believe that we have the ability to do well."
Junior Arshak Ghazaryan leads the Redhawks with 11 total wins on the spring season, seven of them coming in doubles play. Sophomores Emilio Monroy and Colton Weeldreyer both notched 10 total wins; Monroy had five singles and five doubles victories, while six of Weeldreyer’s wins came in doubles matches.
